Before turning seriously to visual art, I led a varied and improbable life: sailing across the Pacific, becoming a physician and neuroscientist, flying jet aircraft as an Air Force flight surgeon, composing music, and building technology companies.
These experiences continue to influence how I observe and represent the natural world— with attention to structure, detail, and the subtle presence of living forms.
